Permablitzes originated in Melbourne, Australia. The Melbourne Permablitz group defines Permablitz as an informal gathering involving a day on which a group of at least two people come together to achieve the following:

  • create or add to edible gardens where someone lives
  • share skills related to permaculture and sustainable living
  • build community networks
  • have fun!

Permablitzes are free events, open to the public, where you learn a lot, share food, get some exercise and have a wonderful time.

If you volunteer at three permablitzes you are eligible to have your home blitzed!  Please let us know if you are interested in having a permablitz at your house so that we can complile a list for our next random selection.
During this first Permablitz we plan to:

1. build a compost bin
2. plant a small herb garden
3. build up beds for the blueberries and blackberries

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, a shovel and/or a wheelbarrow if you can, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, gardening gloves and a willingness to learn hands-on!
