This Saturday, September 19, 2009, Transition Houston will be at the Bayou City Farmer’s Market, located in the parking lot behind 3000 Richmond at Eastside.
Urban Harvest’s Bayou City Farmers Market offers locally-produced vegetables, fruits and farm products. The market supports family farms and boosts the local economy. There’s something for everyone at this great market, including fresh seasonal produce, coffee, Gulf fish, Gulf shrimp, grass-fed meats, honey, baked goods and much more. The market is open every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.
Transition Houston will be there on September 19, 2009 and October 17, 2009. Stop by and see us!
As of September 7, 2009, Transition Houston is accepted as the 40th officially recognized Transition Initiative in the United States! We are thrilled to support and strengthen the Transition Movement in the US.
Transition Houston is registered as a “Local Coordinating Hub,” which means that it provides a place where smaller, neighborhood level Transition groups can come to learn what others are doing, get inspired, build their skills, and collaborate on comprehensively supporting the local needs. We have several initiatives in the pipeline, among them a Transition Film Series at Rice University and the initiation of Permablitzes.
Our official recognition continues to fuel the growing talent and energy of Transition Houston. We are sure that good things will come from our work together!
We have secured our training dates, facilities and sent registration to Transition US. Please view our Training Tab for details to get signed up. Spacing is limited, so we suggest you register soon.
Our September Transition Houston meeting is on Monday, September 7 (that’s Labor Day), from 3-6PM. That is a change from our usual time, and we are also changing our venue for this one meeting.
We will be meeting at the home of one of our members in the Heights.
Our business agenda is short: we will give a status update on our many projects.
Then the fun begins: A meatless potluck (to support the Meatless Monday initiative) while Jim Ohmart tells us about his visit to Australia and several Australian Transition Initiatives!
Please visit http://transitiontexas.ning.com/events/transition-houston-monthly-2 for more information about the event (and to RSVP, if you wouldn’t mind).
So, to summarize:
